Wow, the past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. Made a daytrip to SXSW for a few investor meetings, followed by a pilgrimage to Silicon Valley for a few more. Getting some great feedback, insight and ideas along the way too. All of this while cranking away on getting our first product to market, which is only a day away now. Oh and if anyone wants to know how we made the video. It was easy and cost $3 as follows:
1) Record voiceover into Mixcraft (30 minutes)
2) Create a timed PowerPoint to match (4 hours)
3) Upload to AuthorStream for conversion to video (1 hour - $3)
4) Create animations and embed audio/video components using XtraNormal desktop (5 hours)
5) Upload to YouTube for some quick editing and conversion from .AVI to .MP4 (30 minutes)
6) Embed in site and voila!
Yes, it took a full day, but worth every penny. It would have cost $5-10k to have it done professionally. For a bootstrapped startup, that's money better spent on customer acquisition. Obviously we follow the lean startup approach. No fancy offices for us.
Almost there...

A big week coming up...
It's going to be a busy week for Engage-a-Pro. Firstly, we are cranking away on building our alpha prototype which will be launching very very soon. It's built on the Joomla CMS with a couple of plugins, so it won't be pretty, but it'll be a very solid demonstration of what EaP is all about. Secondly, we're making a quick trip to SXSW for a couple of investor meetings, the SecondMarket party (thanks Adam for the VIP invite) and the Innovation Monastery event courtesy of The Monks of Invention. Then to cap it off, we're heading out to The Valley (I like how I get to say that now) to breathe the air, shake some hands and get pumped about the possibilities...
